I was approached by the restaurant Diner NYC to create a textile piece on their building for their 25th Anniversary.

To begin we collaborated with employees to teach and sew the project together!

What is common at the Diner restaurant is to write the daily menu on the table every evening. I asked the servers to write the menu on some fabric and we had people eat their dinner with it as a table cloth. We later dyed the cotton with indigo and included it in the piece.

There were a collection of Public Sewing Days. At the Polish/Slavic Community Center we were able to sew the final big piece with volunteers at the space as well as volunteers from the city. I gave a slideshow lecture to the cooling center for lunch one day to say Thanks! for letting us use their space as well as introduce the project to the local visitors.
