RAPUNZEL 2006 - Chicago, IL

This large-scale fabric work is the first of the series by Amanda Browder. Located at her apartment in Chicago, IL, Browder sewed all the fabric she had collected in five-years and sewed it into a water-fall like installation that was draped from her apartment window. This collection of vintage fabrics countered to the cold/gray backdrops of the urban landscape. The work was installed for two days, and was later shown at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL which was part of a fiber exhibition titled POP! Contemporary Textiles Influenced by Popular Culture. It was later shown in Missoula, MT as part of a mini-retrospective at the University of Montana’s : The Montana Museum of Art & Culture in 2014.
