“Hi-Vis is an invitational survey exhibition that celebrates the artists who have worked with the Buffalo AKG’s Public Art Initiative in its first ten years of existence. Often, the Public Art Initiative challenges artists to create their first-ever public works or to make the largest works of their career, creating the chances for robust dialogue in shared civic spaces. Hi-Vis allows us to look closely and engage deeply with the breadth and variety of artistic practices behind the public art.” - Buffalo AKG

Night Rainbow (2025) - Amanda Browder: Located at the Buffalo Art Museum AKG: part of the AKPublic Art Initiative exhibition Hi-Vis. All fabric is donated and built with the support and labor of the citizens of Buffalo, NY.

Night Rainbow started in 2024 in (Nov/Dec) ! This commission for the Buffalo Art Museum + Public Art Initiative AKG was organized for the 10 year anniversary of the PublicArt AKG. In 2016 I worked with this museum to create “Spectral Locus” in Buffalo on three buildings throughout the city. NIGHT RAINBOW is installed INDOORS > inside the museum … but is visible from the outside during the night and day :) IT glows at night filling the skyline with color and geometry. All the fabric is donated and during a colleciton of 30 different Public Sewing Days the community came and helped build this awesome textile installation! I am so appreciative of all the work of the volunteers, Eric, Aaron, Bree, Naija, Maddie, and Mek who helped make this project come together. We collaborated with groups such as ArtWorks, Starlight Studios, Stitch Buffalo, University of Buffalo Art Dept + Center for the Arts, Buffalo Public Library and the Buffalo Art Museum AKG. A signature dessert was made at Cornelia’s restaurant called the Amanda Panna Cotta which pastry chef Stephanie built with different geomentric colors and fruit flavors!
