The Brunswick

First Friday : Jan 5th 2024 : 5-8pm at The Brunswick Gallery 223 West Railroad St Missoula, MT

The piece,"The Brunswick", is a celebration of the Brunswick Gallery and its historic importance to the artistic community of Missoula. From artist Leslie van Stavern Millar II and Jay Rummel through generations of Missoula artists, the Brunswick has provided a haven for artists and their work. The piece is a site-specific fabric installation at the Brunswick Gallery paying homage to the creative energies nourished by the Brunswick Building over the last fifty years.

Ms.Browder is known for her large-scale textile installations focussed on engaging local communities. This project uses off-cut fabrics from previous projects in Europe and North America. Outlining the perimeter of the Brunswick Gallery, this indoor work dramatizes the quiet importance of creative spaces in our local history.

The perimeter of our local artist-run gallery measures approximately 240 feet, outlining the space where creativity flourishes and diverse artworks converge to inspire visitors and artists alike. The gallery's boundary serves as a threshold inviting exploration and artistic dialogue within its walls, fostering a community of art enthusiasts and creators united by their passion for visual expression.
